CFTC Reshapes Leadership Team with Blockchain and Derivatives Experts
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) continues its regulatory overhaul under Chairman Michael Selig, appointing Donald Battle as Chief Data Innovation Officer and J. Matthew Haws as Senior Advisor. Battle brings blockchain forensics expertise from the SEC and FinCEN, while Haws offers 13 years of derivatives regulation experience.
These hires mark the eighth and ninth senior appointments since Selig became sole commissioner in January 2026. The moves signal intensified focus on crypto oversight as the CFTC expands its enforcement capabilities in digital assets and derivatives markets.
